Should casinos demand verification before depositing money

I have had little to no hassle on my withdrawals, there are times where I have had to send documents more than once, and one casino actually wanted to keep my winnings because I had signed up twice (I must have been drunk). However talking with the customer service, they obviously saw value in keeping me as customer and deleted my dual account.

Since the casinos are getting more and more (I state this by reading on this site and askgamblers) rigid in order to process withdrawals, should they demand that the verification process starts before you are even allowed to deposit? And if there happen to be a dual account problem, they should fix this up before they even can deny people a withdrawal.
With so many sites out there, it can get hard to keep track on what casinos one have signed up to before.

I have made it a habit self to sign up, and then start the verification process immediately. I also check with customer service:
a) If I deposit from THAT card will there be issues with withdrawal?
b) Have I signed up before, do I have a dual account?

It seem strange that you deposit your heart out, but wanting to make a withdrawal the casinos can turn to utter #¤¤"#"!¤%"!. It feels like they speculate on this fact and wanting to either keep the winnings them self or make sure that they keep the money in the account so long that you actually gamble any winnings away (this have happened to me)

I do agree that casinos should be required to verify the person before depositing, but the casino will never do that because they lose money.ca

I did try a casino last year that hade the policy that you got 10 days after you make an account to send your document. If you did not send the document they freeze the account.

Ofc you can lose a lot of money in 10 days but still, that is better then other casinos that just take and take without asking anything.

Rule 1) before using a new casino always check the history of the casinos, any withdrawal problems, complaints etc read the terms on how much you can cash out before verification is needed. (I Always tell the casino I want to verify before depositing so when I do win a large sum of money I can withdraw easily. I recommend using Skrill/Neteller/E-wallets for all deposits.  some reason casinos always reject my debit card images :s

Totally agree, wish it was like that. Its a struggle to get the withdrawal from some casinos. Usualy its fine, but sometimes some casinos is a pain in the ass. Its easy to deposit, should be just as easy to withdraw in my opinion. So having to verify before making deposit would be great in my opinion

Maybe send some form of verification in and state an amount your allowed to withdraw from the casino before they ask for further verification. E.g. Upload picture of ID: , winnings over (x amount) = request for letters..ect.. I find it strange that some casino's don't ask for anything then other casino's ask for so much..Should be generalized.

Some casinos already do this. I think PlayFrank? Yea it's totally unfair and criminal to accept any deposit (even fraudulent ones) but refuse all withdrawals as a matter of policy until people jump through hoops. Then half of them change the size and position of those hoops, then use VAR to check whether you accidentally grazed one on your way through

PlayFrank made me verify after I went for a withdraw, the only casino's i'v played at which forced me to verify where LeoVegas (After deposit, gave me 24hours) and LadyLucks (Told me to verify, but still allowed me to play before verification). I'v had more casinos accept without verification for a cashout than not. Mr.Green/Casumo asked after a above-average cashout 100+ (but no problem with multiple deposits beforehand.)

Always get verified before the first deposit, talk to the costumer service and tell them that you would like to deposit after the verification is done, that will make the process go very fast. Hm, I wonder why it can go that fast ;)

In DK we need to login with a personal keycard and most DK casinos accept that as a verification. It is a political decision how the regulation ought to be, but most people cant believe the wild wild west the casino world is, so it goes under the radar.

Absolutely agree. Also, you shouldn't be able to deposit as soon as verification is requested. Dunder are bad for that. I was asked for documents (which I didn't have at the time), yet was still able to deposit well over a month later, despite having not yet verified my account. Scandalous tbh.

Most casinos don't allow e wallets to be used if you take a bonus and a lot of people (myself included) prefer bonuses. Re deposits without bonuses seem to allow e wallets though. It depends whether you are a player who wants bonuses or one who simply plays regardless. You will still have to verify at some stage and verification should be done straight away in the way of SlotsMillion and LadyLucks.

This has happened to me before on bet365. I signed up and deposited with no issue but when I landed a winner I wasn't allowed to make a withdrawal request without completing the KYC process, which included sending over a copy of my passport or driving license. I agree that this should be part of the sign up process so that there's no delay on getting your cash once you've won some money.
