Losing streak

Recommended Posts

I imagine most of us have similar luck and can run bad for lengthy periods. I just wondered how people cope. Do you take a break? Maybe change how you play like lowering stakes etc. Do you sometimes feel that it's only you that has this bad luck? Do tin foil hat theories start to appear in your head? I stopped almost every form of gambling due to a crazy losing streak and now only bet on sports but always remember thinking that surely nobody else runs this bad or why doesn't anyone share their experience with others. Well here we are 😀 ! Definitely interested to see how others manage. Maybe it can help others reading how people cope.

Well, i've been gambling for about 20+ yrs and ofc. had many of such streaks. First one is always hardest to cope with. The golden rules of gambling are still only play with what you can afford to lose and accept that your money is most likely gone as soon as you click that deposit button. That said, having fun is a big factor too. So if you get zero playtime, and then also a big losing streak, it gets frustrating really fast. That is for me the exact time to take a break. The only other option is chasing: losses or even just any decent hit, because you can't believe how bad you're running..

Those are keymoments. The problem is most people don't learn these lessons by reading about them: only when they completely destroy themselves, that sinks in like a brick. I have seen many gamblers go through this, and i'd say a lot of us 'serious' punters have these moments, but some folks are lucky to get away with a 'scratch' as their tilt night ended with a big win. Which creates a different kind of beast. But that's another story.

It's a tough topic, as there are so many individual scenarios, and circumstances that play a role, but there is that obvious silver lining: which circles back to above-mentioned golden rules. Personally having been through such a deep hole, luckily recovered from it, after taking a long break - i can say that it has learned me to be in control:

I only lowroll these days, do minimum deposits 99% of the time, cash out as soon as i hit 100 over my deposit, and take up as many +EV bonuses as i can in the process. All of that to prolong my playtime, get the most likely decent long term rtp, and as such can also easily 'survive' a long losing streak.

But even then: when said losing streak occurs now, i also take a break. Mostly that means a week or three, these days, but still. Always  good to step away for a bit. Luckily, if you crave gambling a lot, and your break is killing you - there are @LetsGiveItASpin - Casino Streamer and friends :D

But i'd say better pick up that dusty guitar in the corner, grab a book you always meant to read, watch that miniseries or lose yourself in videogames for a while: thats the way to go! Gambling is/can be fun, but it's unhealthy to do it all the time. So a losing streak is just the time to remind yourself of the other forms of entertainment out there

I probably should also say - do something with family or friends instead! Also one of those things we need to do, but often forget, because we take them for granted.

I play since early 2000 online, it first was all about winning big amounts of money, but slowly stake they got down, At some point I was doing £40 a spin in danger, now I don't go high than £2, only if I have bonus money I go high like £4-£5 or when I play join deposit with my brother we go crazy high spin in Roulette,

my best loss in the casino £24k in 5 days  80% of lost in Danger £40 a spin

my Best win RedTiger Jackpot £36k on £2 stake

when you start gambling for fun you will have more fun losing £300 or £500 but when you gamble to win big you know you got a problem

I just get mad, spend a bit to much and then quit for a while. I never play with money that we would "feel" if we lost it. Only micro stakes so it doesn't really matter money wise. I still get mad though because the gamer inside me just wants to win/get to the endgame 😅

Has anyone noticed a change in the way slots play lately since loosening of the RTP settings?

I'm on a little losing streak lately. Been since December my last cash out. Last year was a good year with roughly winnings of double my financial input. Usually run around even or positive over the last 20 years.

It's normal to hit losing streaks as long as I keep my betting within normal limits. I'm a low roller (.40c - $2) as of a few years ago I got better things to spend money on these days ie: mortgage. Now I gamble smaller AND pay for a house to live in.

I do tend to reach for the bigger wins or as I say it takes money to win bigger money lul. Smaller wins/withdraws tend to tease out a binge gamble.

Find a limit your comfortable with losing regularly and stick to it. A little extra isn't gonna break the bank if you have the right set amount each week. Ignore these high rolling streamer balances and stay happy with your limits. Find something else you find as much fun as gambling and use it as an alternative outlet for those "F??K!" moments. Even if you don't feel like doing something else it only takes 15 minutes of doing something else to change your thinking pattern so try it anyway.

Did I mention having a separate bank account for gambling only helps. Having to transfer cash makes you keep a track of your money each time you gamble. When your having a bad week or two this will keep you in check. Also means you can balance the account easier without everyday expenses mixed in as well. Makes you fully accountable

I used to do this and it definitely helped although when some sites asked for source of wealth it was a pain trying to explain. I always got a communication barrier

So you use your main bank account with your main income or savings just to make it easier to prove source of wealth? Your very trusting every time you deposit. Direct line of contact isn't very safe. Not hard to explain just an extra doco or 2. Actually makes it easier in the long run to show direct transactions without showing all or asking your bank manager.

edit: if you live on a credit card I would say that's a little protection 🤑 but not if your on a losing streak. Now that can be painful! 🥵

WWTBAM, rubbish lately. I wonder if ur rtp is worse if u play old games. Have the programmers concentrated on new games? Can’t hit bigger than 40x lately and my negative equity on skyvegas very usually says like minus 100x per 10 minutes. Seems to be what they aim at?  All seems rigged, furthermore there isn’t a “good site” to play on.  If u sign up via an affiliate, they get 25% of ur losses, is winning possible?  If so, it’s while ur new…but play every day and ur rtp gets worse.  It’s ur job to lose, they only want losing customers, but do want ur friends and family to sign up.  I think what the programmers job is, is to construct a conveyor belt of 100 spins at a time and then attach an rtp number. Then u log in to skybet, then they decide what % to put u on for the next 100 spins on whatever slot. Doesn’t matter which, it’s all the same.  So it’s the site, which is shit, not the game.  U might always need a new site, make use of the freebets etc.  the streamers and YouTube content, it’s their job to lick arse and sell the game to u, their conveyor belt will be btr or if rip, it will take longer.  The premium, the champions league of “each and every spin is random”.  Either it’s live and not so bad, ie they lose 1000 but earnt 3000 in affiliate (gambling responsibly), and it took ages and yoyo’d….or….they pretend a replay of a play money win is live and real. I’m sure u saw the same celebrations 10,000 times by now, almost as boring as tv ads saying gambling is fun. The only way to ensure profit in the long run, is to not click spin, or to be an affiliate and earn money from others losses while ur asleep.

when I play in UK I use to transfer my gambling budget to Paypal, but now I move to the crypto casino, I find this new wallet I can keep money in cash with no need to buy crypto so the value stays the same called bitpanda, if I need to withdraw under 1 min on my Skrill or bank account

If you want to stop, what helped me the most is handing out my financials to family. Find someone you trust and make it impossible for yourself to gamble. A bit more tricky is handing out your financials but agree with that person to gamble a certain amount every week.

The feeling when you're on a losing streak is the worst! I recommend setting your own limit based on your bankroll. You can avoid chasing your losses and you will not lose money that you can't afford to lose. Also choose a site that offers lots of perks like this site: https://bcgamefree.com/id/sports-id/ so you can easily recover through their cashbacks and other bonuses.

if you can't control it your self that is a great idea, I gamble for too long now I can stop not playing at all 3-4 months, and come back maybe I play 2-3 months when I get fed up I stop, sometimes I get fed up from slots I just go, Roulette 90% of the time I lose my deposit of £500 in 5-10 mins 😂 Roulette is very danger

  • 2 weeks later...

It takes a lot to get back from the dark side of gamble. 2 years and it still makes me sick when I think about it. But I'm stronger than that. Every time I feel tempted I remember the pain and how stupid I was.. That brings me back to reality and I dont gamble. I have a special piggy bank I put money in every time I want them to gamble.. Then I treat myself, with a reminder, see if you gambled that money away you wouldn't do/have that now. 😉
