Casino blocking software

Here is some software that will help the temptation to gamble online:

(1) K9 Web Protection (free) - http://www1.k9webprotection.com/

This one is easy to circumvent though unless you get a family member to set the password so you can't override it.

(2) GamBlock (pay ware) - http://www.gamblock.com/download/gamblock-personal.html

I haven't tested this one as there is no trial version to test. It is not the cheapest of options though

(3) TXNoGam (pay ware - just £20) = http://www.plevna.f9.co.uk/block-gambling-with-txnogam.htm

I tried the test version and set it for 5 days and boy does it work. You can't uninstall it even if you tried. Be careful though because it is so good that it not only blocks casino sites, it also stops you watching casino wins on Youtube, Twitch casino channels and it even didn't let me into my share dealing accounts. The trial version is good for 28 days.

I really hope that these pieces of software will aid those that are seriously considering given up gambling. Of course, will power is still required.

While any software is welcomed to combat problem gambling, in the long run it is only a short-time fix (in some cases hours or days rather than months or years).

The two main issues with software is:

- Most people own more than one device. So if software is installed on a laptop, they can then gamble on a phone or another computer at any time

- All computers have a instant 'factory reset' button, that restores the PC within minutes back to new with no software installed. Furthermore, in Windows 10 this can be done instantly via the control panel

If you are serious about giving up gambling, professional help is the only way to succeed.

Wise words Nicola ^_^

In this times we can play everywhere. I like to compare gambling Whit beer actually. Is it Healty to drink for more than you can afford? Same is for gambling. If you spend for more than you can afford it is a problem and a quick fix will not cure the impulse problem...

Xieror,

Beer isn't really a great comparison because alcohol is so cheap. The health aspects of drinking will get you long before the financial implications.

Gambling is often referred to as the silent disease because there is no visible signs of what is happening under the covers.

I agree with Nicola that software is not the answer and would only work for the least tech savvy people out there.

If someone has a gambling issue and need to be restrained from gambling then giving up control of your finances is probably the most effective control you can exert until you get good again.

I think alcohol, drugs and casino can be compared because the addiction is strong. Price has nothing to say, it has its health consequences if you lose control ...

I agree with you that giving up the financial control to someone else is an effective measure. These programs can prevent one gamble situation, but will still have the problem of impulse control ...

I think gambling can only be controlled when person in question reaches the realization of his actions. Group therapies are useless in my opinion, as many people with gambling problems can easily fall back to their old habits. Same goes with drug abusers. It takes strong will and self-control to keep yourself in check, and after a while you get used to it and you overcome your issues.
