Scam casino

So I created a Casumo account on the 23rd of January and took advantage of the 100% welcome bonus offer I deposited £50 and I ended up winning £182, before I requested my withdrawal I already had been verified with my ID and Address. A day passed and still no money it was stuck on pending, I contacted live chat with no luck. I received an email telling me my account was paused and I was hit with a £10 maximum deposit monthly limit, the reason they gave was “In line with clause 9.4 of our Terms and Conditions and with Casumo keeping social responsibility and protection of our players at the heart of our business, we use technical partners to carry out identification, credit, affordability and other verification checks as required by the gambling commission. During these checks, we became aware that you may have an unsatisfied CCJ. We kindly request to provide one of the following:

Certificate of satisfaction/cancellation

A document providing the court-ordered payment terms/instalments of re-payment”

Can a casino actually hold your funds because of what’s on your credit file (I’m UK btw) and ask for sensitive information regarding it ?

They are now telling me that I’ve made an account in the past which I didn’t remember but then looking at my emails I made an account 3 years ago and didn’t go on it since I don’t have access to that email or anything. What will happen with my winnings as I’m getting no response from Casumo anymore.

Yo dude, thanks firstly for posting this as it is interesting to see what casinos get up to.

i know from work that before a company can first time pay monies which can be classed as Income to anyone under an Active & Unsatisfied CCJ, the paying company is legally obliged to check whether CCJ creditors need to be paid first or is debtor allowed to be paid in full. You've already consented to a credit check on sign-up and if it's flagging up then they're legally obliged to confirm it - it's an easy money withhold reason for them too, so of course they're gonna do it!

Sending them requested proof of Payment Plan on an Active & Unsatisfied CCJ should enable them to process withdrawal fine, but please remember though, if they choose to casinos can also use evidence of Active CCJs to initiate Affordability Checks and then you're talking a whole mountain of bank statements & paperwork - so please always stay polite & non-argumentative and don't give them any incentive to become further dicks! This is all only if CCJ currently shows as Active & Unsatisfied.

It's a different story though if it's showing as Closed & Satisfied/On Payment Plan, as then No, they have no business asking whatsoever. Very possibly they just couldn't understand the returned search results, as file search returns are generated from a total mess of entries, so if they are unsure i can appreciate it is quicker & easier just to bat it back to the customer - if so then again just politely send them the paperwork & get the withdrawal.

BUT.... i would also VERY strongly recommend to get Casino to clarify which CCJ they are referencing - if it is the CCJ you know of, it's possible your credit file was never properly updated & cleaned when you satisfied/set-up payment plan. But in worst case scenario it may indicate you've unknowingly picked up a new CCJ in the recent past and they're talking about a totally different one to what you think. If need be, check your own credit file to ensure the old CCJ was correctly updated, and also double check nothing new & strange is showing, as identity fraud is a classic reason for unknown CCJs suddenly popping out of nowhere.

(And.......if it turns out you just ignored & never paid the Parking fine CCJ then that is your answer in itself & forget everything i wrote above lol! Dodging CCJs is alot harder than dodging regular debts and if that is the case, it's sheer luck you've not encountered similar hassles elsewhere)

I do recognise the CCJ it was registered on my credit file beginning of January I set up a payment back in middle of last year but defaulted on it and that’s why it got registered on my file. I sent them the payment plan I setup up with the company and the N22 form to show I was disputing the CCJ and that was 2 days ago I’ve heard nothing since. I only want my winnings I don’t really know what the problem is at all. I’ve sent them everything they need surely they can’t keep my winnings even after sending them what they want

That's reassuring it's something you recognise at least, and yes hopefully that is all they require - they probably will drag their feet just purely because they can so be prepared for a possible wait, and hopefully they won't start asking loads questions about affordability now either - only final recommendation is keep staying polite, plus give them a few days between each chase-up, as sounding desperate for payouts can be another trigger to run affordability checks too. I'll keep my fingers crossed they get it sorted asap and it pays out smoothly for you.
