Gambling Problems

Recommended Posts

Sooooooooooooo...

Some may associate me moderating a few CasinoGrounds streams but may not understand my background.

I am within my 20's - 30's. I am indeed a problem gambler...WHAT a moderator a problem gambler? Yes that is right!!

I'm sure people are tired of listening to my rants but problem gambling is a real thing. I suffered and still do to an extent.

When Gambling becomes too much, your wasting the money you need for bills, food and general living costs your in to deep! I was bankrupt at the age of 18 after ruining myself gambling. I cleaned myself up to the point I only gamble what I can afford to gamble!

There is no shame in gambling addiction in my opinion. If your an addict things are very tempting. If your someone related to or a close relative of a someone with an addiction I'm sure your world can be turned upside down!

Lets tear down the walls!! Lets make a difference/Be the difference. If your a gambling addict you can fight this! You can be the difference between flat broke and counting every euro to actually being better off!!

I have spent the past 5 years gambling with an addiction - Winning big and p##sing it away like its not worth considering! Its not a happy existence! If your plundering more money than you can afford...Its time to step away!!

If your winning but putting more money in you may be at risk so stop!!

There is no shame in addiction and admitting you have one ❤️ Please before its too late stop gambling if your gambling more than you can afford.

@Jeroen83 I disagree with streamers being "homos" - Some streamers play responsibly and help addiction and reach out to viewers.

Others will happily reap the rewards of people with an addiction without a care in the world!! As to who's lives they ruin.

I am confident that CasinoGrounds streamers are legit and show a true representation of gambling unlike these t**ts with 250k bonus buys and lip service money other streamers do!!

Some may call me Bias but the reality is LGIAS has done more to solve my addiction by reaching out with advice than any one else has!!

Isn't watching gamblingstream as an addict the same as taking someone sober into a bar? Respect you can withstand the urge of gambling @Ash W, but I can't recommend watching streams to everyone who is addicted.

And yes, the gambling community is rotten. It's starting to get all about money and everyone wants more and more. I still think it's strange some streamers have multiple 2000+ x wins a week. Tip for everyone who don't believe that some streamers have somehow advantage: watch back streams from Dutch streamers, they had to play on Dutch regulated casino's and lost their affiliation. Suddenly they all had a huge coldrun, moved to Malta or got sick. But for me it looked like they had the same luck as I always have when I gamble.

Sorry for getting off topic, I has been a frustrating week :).

I was reffering to the crypto shady casino affiliates;

The use of “homo” as a derogative?
What does the sexuality of anyone have to do with anything.

Homophobia, rascism, misogyny - introducing these, into your arguments against, says more about you then anyone else.

everything you say is true and fair but any gambling adict knows that no matter what people say to them or do for them wont make them stop...

then only real medicine to stop is within themself (us) since i gamble from 20 years or more...

if u cant convince yourself that gambling is bad for you then is pretty hard to do it.

i never played to win,i had money enough ..i just loved to play,i went broke so many times that i cant even count and no matter how much i won it always ended by playing it back all and more...

in past 5-6 years i tried hard to stop,i couldnt...but i managed to make small steps and change the way i play

i used to go to live casinos, now i have more then 2 years since i went in one and i will never set a foot in any casino..

i play only online,i set limits and i protect myself by going overboard

i never regret the lose of money but i do regret all the uselles stress i put myself trough bad mod and sicknes u feel after a losing sesion(which is 9 times out of 10) is just doenst worth it .many times ur not doing wrong just to yourself by gambling but to all of your loved ones also...

anyway i advice everyone to never gamble and stop until he can

is never to late to stop and you can always start over but you can never bring back what is gone..

I also love gambling, but I know that I play for money that I'm not afraid to lose and I immediately tell myself that I can easily lose it. I also set limits on the time and money I can spend per month.
But according to your description, this is a serious case that is incredibly difficult to solve on your own. I recommend that you seek help from a psychologist or rehabilitation center for addicts. Only with qualified help and work on yourself will you be able to change your life for the better and have a bright future. I really hope that you will be able to get rid of addiction and its serious consequences.

Heyy

Thanks for your response. I am in a better place now. I probably will never be clean but where I was to where I am now is a better place. I used to get paid and blow the whole lot, now its a spare few 100 euro. The shame is what hurts...The dirty feeling of losing! The post is to encourage others to speak out and not be ashamed of having a problem.

Gambling problems often revolve around a degree of shame and secrecy and for some people it can really eat away at people. I just wanted to initially open the door to others and let out some of my shame ❤️

Am glad to hear that you feeling in a better place now @AshW and it sounds like gamblings grip of unrealistic fantasy has started to loosen abit, which is good to see dude and i wish you all the best for what I'm hoping will be a brilliant 2022!!

I agree with you about the shame of losing, and i think this is an often underlooked aspect of why alot of people, especially men, become addicted - casinos know that winning money is like going fishing - everyone only ever talks about their biggest catch and no-one likes being ribbed over hitting blanks or only catching tiddlers! Yet if you spend enough time fishing, you can land better catches, & you don't have to stay embarrassed down the pub - whereas the bite of gambling is no amount of practice will ever change your odds!

Yet people get tricked into ignoring this fact & it's too easy to start thinking "I've played this for so long, why can't i be good at it?!" And this is the point which casinos love because they know most people would rather throw alot of money away than face the embarrassment of being a loser and also that alot of people will tend to blame themselves for losing long before they actually blame the game.

Casinos also know that human nature means most people won't hold their hands up and admit defeat, they'll come back for another go cause they become determined not to be beaten by a stupid game!! And there's no better music to casino ears than when someone screams "Fcuk you!!" but then stills stays logged in!! Cause beating maths in any realm of physics is nigh on impossible, and casinos don't just know that, they're built on it!

One of the saddest stories i ever saw on docu was of this gambler who fcuked up everything in his life and i always remember he said one of the worst parts about having to keep it all secret was that even when he hit a big win he couldn't enjoy it or tell anyone because then they would know he was gambling - one story he said he had a massive £30K win once and then around family immediately had to act like nothing happened and then had absolutely no-one he could tell about it or celebrate with - It actually made me cry how he described the disappearance of the exhilaration & enjoyment of big wins, as both his addiction & circumstances meant he had to immediately file it away as just another spin in the history of millions - it was so sad.

I used to have problems with gambling. I didn't really understand the game and sat down to play. Now, only having studied the game and the tactics of other players well, I start to play.

That's not what they mean when they say 'problem gambling', Terry. Problem here means an inability to control yourself and knowing where to stop, it doesn't have anything to do with 'understanding the game' or 'tactics'.

Hey mate,

I, for myself, was also once a problem gambler. I actually still am, and probably will be for the rest of my life. Went in debt two years ago and now fighting hard to get out of it. Slowly but steady i'm working up my way. Last year I ended up in jail for a short term because of tax issues.

I used to play pretty high poker games where I would risk all my money that I earned that week. Would go to the casino and end up gambling away a month of earnings. Life wasn't pretty back then.

Now I have excluded myself from online gambling and often bet on sports. I only do this with cash, and cash out every time I end up winning big. I really don't miss the slots, and absolutely love the situation i'm in right now.

If you have some issues with anything, feel free to contact me. Gambling problem is a bigger thing than most people think.

Good luck.

@Ash WThe sad thing is what people are missing is there has been a massive shift in gambling over the past 3 years, and most people will notice this in there play over this time, especially in taxable countries, because the rtp has been lowered for those countries to compensate the losses.

Most gamblers don’t realise how much even the tiniest shift in RTP can effect your game play and a slot say that previously had a 97% rtp to 95% will reduce your game play by 33%. Videoslots for example for me as a UK player went from 97% on book of dead  all the way down over the last 3 years to 94.1 which would reduce my game play over 50% meaning I would lose money over half the time quicker, and over that time I have been just making deposit after deposit, faster and faster getting no where, as I did not know that the rtp was lowered. Players with lower RTPs were actually playing on different versions of the same game to other players who were granted higher RTPS.Apparently the stake holders of casinos were asked if they wanted it lowered lol…

Also many casinos have been hosting cloned versions on different servers of games with some of the really high roller streamers, if you watch carefully enough you can see the bugs 🐜 they hit patterns on these slots that are not possible outcomes. I don’t think that on the fully licensed ones MGA together with UKGC it would be possible to clone, so stick to them if you don’t know how to check the RTP or Host yourself.

I only know these things myself after losing so much money over the past 3 years, gambling has brought me to my knees. I have accepted It is because of these reasons, and I am never going to be up not because I am a loser or that I am a problem gambler, it is because we are getting absolutely scammed. As an online gambler for around 14 years, I have lost so much money, but you expect to lose you know that after the first couple of years playing, you learn, however I loved playing and accepted my loses and accepted some decent wins in returns even though I knew overall it was going to lose overall, I accepted that because I loved playing.

What I can’t accept is the complete shift since lowered RTPs, bonus buys and outright cheating from streamers, who have been absolutely flooding these streaming platforms with either fake software, casino money, and high RTPs and I am glad that Twitch has taken a stance on it, I just hope other platforms do also.

There are genuine good streamers out there who make a normal living and just love gambling such as letsgiveitaspin and slotspinner etc… and as you can see on Twitch it has become a ghost town for streamers since the Twitch ban lol

The only advice I can give to people is, if you have noticed a difference in your game play on slots since 2020 then start digging into what is happening like I have been doing you will be absolutely horrified what you come across.

For anyone hoping something will be done or investigated into RTPs etc… will be waiting a long time, because all the UKGC is bothered about is Taxes they put that before anything, so anyone not paying any is the casinos they will be coming for and in the mean while the average Joe from taxable countries is going keep getting skinned alive by these SLOT based casinos.

Please don’t be too hard on yourselves because we all lose at gambling and we all get to that place were we lose what we win and some more….then we learn from it and get back on our feet, but with what is going on in the last few years there is no getting back on your feet because there is no returns so please do all your checks and dig deeper before playing on slots because the casinos aim is to put online slots inline with land based slots….. and we all know that outcome….

@Svenix The bonuses stopped in there country , they were all getting 500% deposit bonuses, that is why they moved to Malta lol, but they didn’t really they just moved to casinos what accepted VPNs they are not actually there. Roshtein has just took himself all the way to Canada over the Stake casino controversy. He has been using VPN in Malta probs in Canada for a long time and now he as actually gone there, because Stake is under so much scrutiny

Gambling is and can destroy lives, but first step is realizing u have a problem.

Remember to ask yourself why u are gambling in the first place ?, is it for the kick / thrill or trying to get that fast money ? or are u simply just enjoying it to the limit u feel u can afford to lose ?

If your a person that gets angry when losing, then your gambling more than u can afford. ( problem )

If your a person winning and keeps throwing them all back, but afterwards regrets doing so very so often. ( problem )

If your simply just gambling for the fun and sticking to your limits, then its way more controlled and more fun. ( good luck )

If you aint sure IF u have a problem, then try exclude yourself from gambling for a period of time .. IF you feel your thoughts is spinning around wanting to gamble and getting annoyed u cant, then its usually based on your not controlling your feelings towards gambling. AND thats a PROBLEM !

IF you lie towards your closed and loved ones because of gambling .. realize your not just hurting yourself now, but also the ones you love and loves you.

Stop gambling and sit down to analyze how you can turn this addiction towards a better life .. do yourself the favor of talking with the ones u love for help and support !

In most cases you will meet understanding support and your on the right path for taking control and getting other " hobbys " or intrests.
