My Biggest Win Ever

? Hi g  uys! I'm a forum lurker been watching Kim among a few other streamers for a few years now.

I just wanted to say hello and share with you my story.

At the age of 18 at University I was given a free bet chip for Aspers in Newcastle. I turned that £25 chip into £100 and left with a huge smile on my face. I didnt realise that ultimately that was the beginning for me, and that £100 would cost me 1000s of times over.

Fast forward to January 2017. My low point. My now ex-wife had finally put it together that I'd been gambling more than I could afford. Every payday was a trip to the bookies, a deposit online, a huge loss, a payday loan, and a bunch of lies about why we were living payday to payday with a household income of £55k+. The £1000s I'd gambled finally came out, and the payday loan after payday loan all came to light. Rightfully, and deservedly, she told me she could no longer trust me and that our marriage was over.

I met a woman in Feb 2017 and we soon discovered that we were rather unexpectedly having a baby. A blessing and a purpose. I told her about my gambling, the loans and how bad my finances were etc. I promised it wouldn't affect our ability to raise our child. I entered a debt management plan for all my debts (this will still run for quite a few years, I owe £13,000. This is down from around £30,000).

I listened and watched Kim, rolla, hypa, and listened to people asking how to control gambling. The advice was always quite similar. Gamban, and take the Financial control away. Give your money to someone else. I took that advice. For almost 4 years I have been in a position where there is never any money in my account. No more than £20. Always a phone call for a transfer if I needed to buy anything. I was never made to feel bad, but it is belittling. I could even fire the odd £10 on football but it felt dirty having to ask for permission.

Fast forward to today. For the first time in probably 6 or 7 years I have had a paycheck go into my own account and have money left at the end. I gambled none of it.

There will always be the reminder for me about the past and my mistakes. Unless I win the lottery, I'm still going to be paying my debt for another 4 years. But today was the biggest win of my adult life- and it feels better than all my wins combined.

It's a super mega ding ding!

Nice story!! Glad you recovered very well.

Not all finish this way.. They promote things that can really damage a persons life. I know its responsability of each of us to deal with it but some people dont have acess to that affiliate money or end up losing control over the addiction. So be always careful out there! People tell these stories not because they were dumb o retarded, but because it can happen to you.
