I wonder, is there any rule for how long a casino can delay a withdrawal?

My withdrawal is set "on hold" due to a "bonus security check". I've spoken to them on chat and via e-mail, but they can not say any date for when i can expect the "check" to be done.

It's one week today since i requested the withdrawal. How long can they delay this before they break some kind of licence/law?

No, unfortunately there is no such rule. Moreover, there are many casinos out there that are not regulated by any serious licensing authority (professional licensing authorities: MGA in Malta or UKGC in GB for GB gamblers only).
Some are regulated by the gaming commisions of  Banana Republic such as the Isle of Man or Curacao. Not all of them are rogue casinos of course, but in case of any problems you will never be able to seek any help, which basically means the casino can screw you over indiscriminately and you won't be able to do anything about it. Considering there are more than enough legit casinos regulated in Malta and/or in the UK I personally would avoid playing in ANY OTHER casino at all cost.
Casinos regulated by the MGA or UKGC, however, have to act according to their license. You can complaint to their licensing body in case you are not satisfied with something. The licensing authority will then investigate the case and the casino has to act according to  licensing authoritys verdict. 
(My personal favourite casinos that within hours 24/7 once you are verified: Casumo, Videoslots, LeoVegas, Slottyvegas / BetATCasino, Thrills / Superlenny / Kaboo, RoyalPanda)

It would be helpful if you could specify the casino you played in, the requested withdrawal amount and the exact bonus used.

I didnt mention the casino, because I in general just wondered about the regulations regarding withdrawals.

The casino is storspiller.com, which you might know is run under UniBet. I have no reason what so ever to belive they will screw me. I have already cashed out once before from a welcome bonus, and the withdrawal was done fast. This was my 4th bonus, and i didnt touch the bonus balance when i hit good i DoA, and made a request of 1600€ withdrawal. I'm very confident i did not break any bonus terms (as i in fact never used the bonus, and i got it cancelled with help of online chat before i could cash out).

I do belive i will get my winnings, and i understand that the casino wants to make sure i didnt break any terms regarding a bonus (that i never used). The only thing im unsatisfied about the is the lack of answers why and when i can expect my request to be done.

Yeh what annoys me most about casinos is this "you have to wait patiently until we decide to send you your money" bs

Other day my withdrawal was taking a while so I asked if it had been processed and livechat told me I need to be patient because there's a heavy workload at the moment and just one agent .. yeh ok I need to be patient or how about YOU GET MORE AGENTS ! Really sucks how they take your money instantly yet take their sweet time returning it . Most casinos are pretty good to be fair but I still think these multimillion dollar companies should have too many payment agents so they are always ready to process withdrawals instantly 24/7. We deposit , we gamble (making you money in the process) and the (rare) times we manage to win we want our money NOW . Haha it's not too much to ask is it ?

Well you have to keep in mind, it's been weekend + bank holiday in Malta, you can ask for explanation on why is it taking so long. Other than that, I suggest you wait. Since it's sister casino to Unibet I think your money is safe. But I agree waiting is painful :)

BREAKING NEWS: I've recieved my money, finally :)

@Skylined87 the delay was due to a "bonus check" so even if it was bank holiday or not, they should be able to handle my request (if not holiday also mean that employees are off duty). I use Neteller so money is on my account already.

@Ciryon1There was no option to cancel the withdrawal, so that was not the case here.

Also i asked a friend of mine while i was waiting for my money, and he got his money on his bank account the day after he cashed out, so the delay was not the payit itselfe, it was the approval of the withdrawal.

As i said i belived i would get my money, and unibet/storspiller is a serious casino, do doubt about that. It's just the process taking so long without any good feedback that made me a bit worried.

Anyway, case closed!
